The Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology is worldwide one of the most important development and contract research institutes of its specific field. The activities cover a wide range of areas such as the development of new laser beam sources and components, the use of modern laser measurement and a broad range of laser applications like 3D printing of metal components and materials processing with laser sources as well.

The Fraunhofer ILT group for micro and nano structuring develops manufacturing techniques and production systems that are based on micro-technology and are adapted specifically to their respective applications. One emphasis is the upscaling of laser structuring processes by means of fast scan technique and multi beam approaches.

The Chair for Technology of Optical Systems (TOS) is part of the faculty of mechanical engineering and is one of four chairs (LLT, TOS, NLD, DAP) working on optics and laser technology.

Modern optical systems are characterized by the close interaction of optical, opto-mechanical and opto-electronical components. Dynamic adaptation on changing environmental conditions, intensity distributions, and adaptation of the optical system on varying process variables are requirements that today’s optical systems are expected to meet. The research group “optical systems” is active in the field of high throughput optical systems for laser materials processing. Beside the manufacturing and assembly oriented design of beam shaping optical systems and multi-beam optical systems, huge effort is particularly spend on the multi-physical simulation of thermo-optical effects as well as the temporal characteristics arising from ultra-short pulsed laser radiation. In addition, optical systems are designed that allow the manipulation of individual beams of multi-spot optical systems that particularly is required to take into account field lateral distortion.

Created in 1999, Lasea is a high-tech Belgian SME which has a unique expertise in the design, manufacture and use of laser systems for industrial purposes. Lasea offers cutting edge laser solutions capable of responding to the needs of companies whose production lines include plastic welding, marking, and surface treatments. Its laser products and services are: expertise and prototype development, OEM systems, laser work-stations, turn-key machines. Lasea’s activity consists in implementing laser solutions in its laser station range. This range of stations is dedicated to particular applications according to the will of the customer: micromachining, texturing, plastic welding, decoating, engraving, and many more. Therefore, the design and development of these stations is fitted to the special solution developed by Lasea’s engineers for the customer’s application.

LASEA France has been created in 2012. Its activity is the development and production of beam management modules dedicated to high accuracy processes, mainly with ultrashort lasers. LASEA France is also equipped with an application lab aiming at validating the use of its modules on customer’s applications. Within MultiFlex LASEA France takes care of development and assembly of the multi-beam optics module.

AA SA  was founded in 1979, under the name «Automates et Automatismes». It became a limited company in 1988 under the new name of AA Sa (OPTO-ELECTRONIC Division), specialising in acousto-optic components and their associated RF drivers. Early products included a multi-beam, low RF power modulator for use in the near infra-red and a compact 2-axis deflector system, completed in the 90’s by AA’s famous polychromatic modulator. Since then the range of products has increased dramatically. Nowadays, AA is a European world leader in the manufacturing of quality Acousto-optic and radio frequency devices. Acousto-optic range covers wavelengths from 180nm up to 11μm, and radio frequency drivers cover frequencies up to 1GHz and power up to 120 Watts.

Close collaboration with universities and research institutes, provided invaluable knowledge and experience in the design and manufacturing processes of Acousto-optic devices and radiofrequency sources. Continuous R&D keeps pace with advances in laser and electronic technology to ensure AA continues to offer state-of-the-arts products. AA offers its customers solutions from prototype design to large volume manufacturing thanks to its vertically integrated chain of capabilities, including design, manufacturing, testing and quality control. This allows AA to accompany its customers from the concept design to large volume manufacturing, and to respond efficiently and flexibly to any request. AA thrives to maintain a high-tech up-to-date line of products and excellent service.
